You have become a full owner of real estate in Turkey and decided to move for the purpose of permanent residence. In this case, a residence permit is issued (permit, «ikamet» — ikamet).
A residence permit («ikamet» — ikamet) can be issued for a period of 6 months to 2 years. Registration gives the owners or tenants of real estate the right to enter and leave the country/out of the country without restriction.
Those wishing to stay in Turkey beyond the period of visa-free stay or permanently resident owners / tenants must apply electronically on the website: https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/.
The main page of the site presents two types of visa application («ikamet» — ikamet): the initial application for those who apply for the first time, and the extension of an existing visa.
The following documents must be attached to the completed application:
- The basis for obtaining an ikamet is a Tapu (document of real estate ownership), or a notarized long-term lease agreement.
- Turkish bank account with an amount of 600 US dollars per month.
- Medical insurance of a Turkish insurance company, which is issued for at least 1 year. Its cost depends on the age of the applicant for a residence permit and is issued to persons from 18 to 65 years old (children are not required). Prices for insurance start from 1080 lira.
The term for obtaining an ikamet is on average 2-3 months from the date of application. You will be notified about the readiness of ikamet by SMS message. And in the next 2 days, by registered mail, it will arrive at the post office (PTT) at the place of registration.
